CELEBRATION OF THE ARMED FORCES – DECEMBER 4, 2025
Delhi Public School, Faridabad celebrated the Armed Forces Day with great vigour and patriotic fervour on December 4, 2025, coinciding with the Indian Navy Day. The school proudly partnered with 5 Har Battalion NCC, 4 Har Girls Battalion NCC and 1 Har Naval NCC Unit.
The Principal, Ms Sangeeta Chakravarty warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour & other esteemed guests. Addressing the students, she urged them to draw inspiration from the brave officers who safeguard the nation and to imbibe the values of discipline, integrity and unity.
The Chief Guest, Captain (IN) Vikram Segat, Commanding Officer 1 Haryana Navy Unit, Faridabad, honoured for his distinguished 30-year service in Executive, Gunnery and Missile operations and a two-time recipient of the Chief of Naval Staff Commendation, has served in key leadership roles including Executive Officer at INS India and Gunnery Officer on the iconic INS Viraat. He currently leads the Naval NCC Unit, mentoring cadets to uphold duty and pride.
In his address, Captain Vikram Segat highlighted the exemplary team spirit of the Army, Navy and Air Force, urging students to adopt this spirit, remain positive, face challenges with courage and uphold the NCC motto of Unity in Diversity. He emphasised four essential pillars—character building, courage, camaraderie and adventure.
The Guest of Honour, Colonel Rupam Chatterjee, Director (HQ Project Vijayak), Kargil, an alumnus of NDA and IMA, has vast operational experience across riverine, jungle, desert and high-altitude terrains. His service includes major operations such as Op. Vijay, Op. Meghdoot, Op. Parakram and counter-insurgency roles in the North-East and Kashmir. He has been serving in Kargil since July 2024.
Colonel Rupam Chatterjee shared an inspiring anecdote on the strength of character, stressing the importance of trust and mutual support. He reminded students that integrity enables individuals to shine even in a crowd. He concluded with the Navy’s greeting, “Wishing everyone fair winds and good seas”, and interacted with the audience through a brief Q&A session.
Cadet Vyomika Kaushik, an alumnus of the Naval Wing of our school, was also one of the guests on this special day. She has been selected for the 10+2 B. Tech Navy Entry for the prestigious Indian Naval Academy Course 114 at Ezhimala, Kerala, in May 2024. Upon completing her training, she will be commissioned as a Sub Lieutenant, embarking on a promising career in the Indian Navy.
Cadet Vyomika Kaushik also interacted with the cadets and spoke about how NCC has helped her, her training experience at the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, and her journey through the SSB exam.
The celebrations began with a Parade Inspection followed by a Band display. The cultural segment opened with a stirring orchestra rendition of Vande Mataram, setting a patriotic tone. This was followed by a soulful choir presentation 'कंधों से मिलते हैं कंधे', a self-composed poem 'एक प्रणाम देश के वीरों के नाम' and an expressive dance performance titled 'ए वतन, मेरे वतन'. A video showcasing the noteworthy achievements of our NCC cadets was screened, highlighting the remarkable feats accomplished by the School’s NCC unit. A detailed achievement report of the cadets was also presented, offering a comprehensive overview of their dedication and excellence. Following this, a few cadets shared their individual.
The Vice Principal, Ms Jyoti Dhall, proposed the vote of thanks, after which the programme concluded with the resonant NCC Song, echoing pride and patriotism across the premises.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth development movement. It has enormous potential for nation building. It aims at developing character, discipline, secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among young citizens. Further, it aims at nurturing a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.
Delhi Public School, Faridabad has taken the initiative to provide its students an opportunity to join NCC, in order to inculcate the feeling of nationalism and understand the importance of unity and discipline in life. The unique and rewarding experience of NCC enables the students to become highly effective, successful leaders and inspires a lifelong pursuit of service and excellence. It is a voluntary, two-year programme. Participation in the Annual Training Camps and NCC activities inside and outside the school helps to prepare cadets for a world that values perseverance, teamwork, and a dedication to the idea of being committed to something bigger than themselves.
DPS FARIDABAD BECOMES THE FIRST SCHOOL IN HARYANA TO INSTALL A ROWING BOAT SIMULATOR
1 Haryana Naval Unit NCC Faridabad has a rowing boat simulator on the school premises. It is the only school in Haryana with this facility. Sessions are scheduled in our school for cadets from all schools and colleges which are under 1 Haryana Naval Unit NCC Faridabad.
INSTITUTIONALIZED ANNUAL EVENTS
- Yoga session is organized in the school premises to celebrate “The International Day of Yoga” every year on June 21.
- Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on July 26, every year. This year Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated in school premises wherein a cultural program was organized and Honorary Captain (Subedar Major) YOGENDRA SINGH YADAV, Param Vir Chakra awardee was the Guest of Honour for the program.
- On August 15, every year, our school celebrates Independence Day in its premises.
- On the occasion of Republic Day i.e. January 26, a commemorative event is organized in the school premises.
ACTIVITIES & SOCIAL INITIATIVES (2024 onwards)
- On December 1, 2024, 217 students, accompanied by 27 staff members embarked on an enriching and thrilling day-long excursion to Delta-105, located in Manesar near Gurugram.
- 27 Cadets of Navy Wing participated in The Republic Day Parade organized by 1 Haryana Naval Unit NCC Faridabad at Dussehra Ground, NIT Faridabad, at district level on January 26, 2025.
- In collaboration with NCC Units, various activities were conducted in the school premises on the occasion of Earth Day on April 22, 2025 to promote environmental awareness and action.
- A Civil Defence Mock Drill session was conducted in the school premises on May 7, 2025. This was an initiative started by the Government of India in collaboration with the NCC Units. Around 200 Cadets of Delhi Public School Faridabad from all NCC Wings attended this session.
CAMPS ATTENDED (2024 onwards)
- Cadet Vihaan Bhatia (NCC Navy JD Cadet) participated in Himachal Trek 3 (boys) Camp at Duttnagar (Rampur), Bushahr, Himachal Pradesh from May 18,2024 to May 25,2024.
- 77 JW and SW Cadets of Army Wing of our school participated in CATC Camp from May 23,2024 to June 1, 2024 at Gusbethi.
- Cadets Angel, Bhavika, Ritika (JW Cadets of Army Wing) and Cadet Sumit (JD Cadet of Army Wing) attended EBSB -2 Camp held at Ropar, Punjab from October 16, 2024 to October 27, 2024.
- JD Army Cadets participated in a 10-day long CATC Camp from December 21, 2024 to December 30, 2024 at Learner’s Paradise Public School, Sohna, Siriska, Gurugram.
- Navy CATC-147 Camp was conducted at Pinewood International School, Pakhal, Faridabad from January 3, 2025 to January 12, 2025. Our Cadets bagged 16 medals in CATC- 147 Camp.
- JD Army Cadets of our school participated in a 10 day long CATC Camp held from June 2, 2025 to June 11, 2025 at Maitree International School, Bhora Kalan, Gurugram.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS (2024 onwards)
- Cadet Nityan Srivastava (JD) of Delhi Public School Faridabad of the Army Wing, was adjudged the Second-Best Cadet by Cadet Welfare Society (CWS) and received a cash price of Rs. 3500/- on May 17,2024.
- Vyomika Kaushik, an alumnus of Delhi Public School, Faridabad was among 10 girls recommended from across the nation for 10+2, B. Tech Navy entry for the Indian Naval Academy Course 114, Ezhimala, Kerala. With 4 years of training, she will join The Indian Navy as an officer.
- Cadet Nevin Mehta (JD Cadet of Navy Wing) is pursuing B. Tech Maritime Engineering from TMI (Tolani Maritime Institute) as he cleared TMISAT (Tolani Maritime Institute Science Aptitude Test).
- 2 Navy Cadets, JW Cadet Nandikka Chanana and JD Cadet Atharv Pareek received CWS Scholarship Award at 1 Haryana Naval NCC Unit Faridabad premises on April 17, 2025.
NCC DAY (CELEBRATION)
Delhi Public School, Faridabad celebrated NCC Day on November 18, 2019 to commemorate one year of successful running of the NCC program in the school. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Brig. Vijay Mehta (SM), Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Rohtak. The esteemed guests on the occasion were Capt. Manoj Loomba, Staff Officer, Naval Attaché, Malaysia; Officiating Commanding Officer, Lt. CDR Ajay Rajpurohit; Subedar Major Satyavir Singh, 4 Haryana Girls Bn, Nuh and Subedar Sanjeev Kumar, Training JCO, 4 Haryana Girls Bn. The program began with a spirited patriotic poem rendition dedicated to those valorous men who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. A dedication to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh through a Hindustani vocal music presentation followed. The esteemed guests were felicitated with mementos and were warmly welcomed by Principal, Mr Anil Kumar in his address emphasising on the school motto-- Service Before Self. He highlighted how the NCC program is benefitting the students, the school and ultimately the society. An energetic and inspiring dance performance preceded the Chief Guest’s speech in which he appreciated the efforts of the students and urged them to follow their passion to achieve success. A digital presentation recounted the journey of the NCC cadets since the program was introduced in school. The audience was made aware of the various activities and responsibilities undertaken by young cadets. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Vice Principal, Ms Jyoti Dhall. The program ended with the National Anthem.
The Annual Adm Inspection of 1 HAR Navel NCC Unit, Faridabad
Delhi Public School, Faridabad hosted the Annual Adm inspection of 1 HAR Naval NCC Unit, Faridabad on November 18, 2019. The Chief Guest Brig. Vijay Mehta (SM), Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Rohtak also undertook the inspection of the NCC Naval Unit in the school premises.
The cultural program, in which around 260 cadets participated, began with the NCC Song sung by the cadets of Delhi Public School, Faridabad and was followed by the felicitation of the esteemed guests. The School Principal, Mr Anil Kumar gave the welcome address. The contingent from Government College, Tigaon presented the Welcome Song 'Swagatam', followed by a thought provoking Nukkad Natak by DPS Faridabad to create awareness about the ill effects of stubble burning and the need to take action to control air pollution. Cadets from Modern B.P. School staged a dance performance in a beautiful combination of rhythm and dance. The theme of the dance was 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the nationwide campaign which aims at generating awareness about importance of education for girls in India. The theme is especially relevant in our state which has taken up many pro-active schemes for the protection of girls and their survival.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Brig. Vijay Mehta (SM) complemented the cadets on their socially relevant presentations. He shared his experiences and urged the children to be sincere to themselves and focus on the job at hand. He asked them to be decisive and keep alive the team spirit.
The program ended with the National Anthem followed by the interaction of Brig. Vijay Mehta and Lieutenant Commander Ajay Rajpurohit, with the ANOs where they listened to the challenges being faced by them and gave valuable suggestions and inputs for the same.
